CBN oil explained — and where to buy it in Adelaide

CBN oil explained: cannabinol is a minor cannabinoid, and ours is a THC-free isolate in MCT. Compare strengths from $89.95 and buy in Adelaide, across SA.

CBN oil is the minor-cannabinoid isolate in the CBD Oil Adelaide range — one compound, cannabinol, with no THC. It is not a blend, not a whole-plant extract, and not the same thing as the CBD oil most people have heard of. It is a single cannabinoid, in a coconut-derived MCT carrier, described here strictly by what it contains. We stock it in Adelaide and post it across Adelaide CBD, Glenelg, Norwood, Prospect and the rest of SA.

This page is about the product type — what cannabinol is, how it differs from CBD and CBG, what the isolate format actually means, which SKUs we carry, and how to do the per-millilitre maths before you order. CBD Oil Adelaide describes every oil by composition and makes no health claims. If you want the plain facts about our CBN oil before buying in Adelaide, this is the right page.

What is cannabinol (CBN)?

Cannabinol is a minor cannabinoid of the hemp plant, distinct from CBD and produced in smaller amounts — which is why you see it less often on shelves and at a different price point.

Cannabinol — shortened to CBN — is one of over a hundred cannabinoids that the hemp plant (Cannabis sativa L.) produces. "Minor" is a straightforward term: it refers to natural abundance in the plant, not to importance or quality. The plant makes far more CBD (cannabidiol) than it makes CBN, so CBN requires more processing to collect in isolate quantities, and it costs more per milligram as a result.

CBN is chemically its own compound. It is not a weaker or modified version of CBD; it is a separate molecule. Both come from the same species — hemp being the low-THC variety of Cannabis sativa L. — but they are distinct cannabinoids with different chemical identities. That is the entire "what is CBN" answer. We do not describe what it might do for a person, only what it is.

How CBN oil differs from CBD oil and CBG oil

The three single-cannabinoid oils in the CBD Oil Adelaide range differ by which compound they contain and whether a broad or full plant-extract is included.

Full-spectrum CBD oil is whole-plant: it holds CBD alongside the smaller cannabinoids and terpenes from the same extraction, plus a legal trace of THC kept under 0.3 per cent. Our full-spectrum option uses that complete hemp profile in an MCT carrier.

Broad-spectrum CBD oil starts from the same whole-plant extract and then removes the THC, leaving the other hemp compounds intact. The broad-spectrum CBD oil is therefore 0% THC while still being multi-compound.

CBG oil (cannabigerol) is a single-cannabinoid oil for the compound the plant makes first — the biosynthetic precursor that the other cannabinoids are built from. It is scarcer than CBD and priced accordingly. We carry it as a standalone isolate on our CBG oil page.

CBN oil is this page's subject: another single-cannabinoid isolate, for cannabinol specifically, THC-free because the isolation process removes everything else. So the line-up is: two multi-compound CBD oils (one with a trace of THC, one without), and two single-cannabinoid isolates (CBG and CBN). The difference between them is which compound is present and how much of the original plant extract remains — nothing more.

The isolate format explained

An isolate means one cannabinoid, separated from the rest of the plant material. That is what makes our CBN oil structurally different from the full- and broad-spectrum oils.

When a manufacturer produces a cannabinoid isolate, the plant extract goes through additional refinement steps until only the target compound remains at measurable purity. The result is a cannabinol powder or crystal that is then dissolved in a carrier to make an oil. Because the THC and every other compound has been removed during that process, the finished isolate is THC-free — confirmed by the Certificate of Analysis for every batch.

The practical meaning for a buyer is simple: the bottle contains cannabinol and MCT carrier oil, full stop. There are no other active cannabinoids to account for. That also means the composition is completely transparent on the label, which makes the milligram-per-millilitre maths straightforward (see the section below).

CBN oil SKUs stocked in Adelaide

Label reading and per-mL maths

Reading a CBN oil label comes down to three numbers and one statement.

Total milligrams — the figure on the front, such as 1000mg or 6000mg. That number represents the total cannabinol dissolved in the whole 50ml bottle.

Per-millilitre concentration — divide the total mg by the volume. The 1000mg bottle works out to 20mg per millilitre; the 3000mg is 60mg/mL; the 6000mg is 120mg/mL; the 12000mg is 240mg/mL. Every bottle holds about 100 servings of 0.5mL drawn with the dropper, regardless of strength — strength changes the concentration, not the number of servings.

Carrier oil — stated on every label as MCT coconut oil. Our guide to using CBD oil covers how to measure a 0.5mL serving with the dropper; the serving size is the same across our entire oil range.

THC content — the label and COA both confirm the isolate is THC-free. Reading the Certificate of Analysis is the way to verify that figure independently rather than take it on trust.

Those four items — total mg, per-mL concentration, carrier, COA — are the complete picture. The rest of the label (ingredient list: hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) aerial-parts extract, MCT coconut oil; organic, non-GMO, alcohol-free) confirms what is in the bottle, not what the bottle does. How much to take and how often is a personal decision; our usage guide explains how to measure, not how much anyone specifically should use.

CBN oil legality in SA

Cannabinoid products in Australia are regulated at a national level by the Therapeutic Goods Administration. That framework applies in SA as it does in every other state and territory. CBD Oil Adelaide describes its oils by composition only — a THC-free cannabinol isolate in an MCT carrier — and does not make therapeutic claims. We are not able to provide legal advice.

For the current scheduling of cannabidiol, cannabinol, and related compounds — including the rules that govern OTC availability and prescribing — the authoritative source is the TGA website. Our CBN oil is sold to adults 18 and over and is not suitable for anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding.

Buying CBN oil in Adelaide: common questions

What exactly is CBN oil? It is an oil containing cannabinol, a minor cannabinoid from the hemp plant, supplied as a THC-free isolate dissolved in MCT carrier. We describe it only by composition.

Is CBN oil the same as CBD oil? No. CBD (cannabidiol) and CBN (cannabinol) are two separate cannabinoids. Our CBD oils are available as full-spectrum (multi-compound, trace THC) or broad-spectrum (multi-compound, 0% THC). Our CBN oil is a single-cannabinoid isolate with no other active compounds.

Does CBN oil contain THC? Our CBN oil does not. It is a THC-free isolate. The Certificate of Analysis for every batch confirms this — contact [email protected] with your batch number to request yours.

Is CBN oil legal in SA? Cannabinoid products fall under the national regulatory framework administered by the TGA, which covers SA. We sell to adults 18+ and make no health claims.

Where can I buy CBN oil in Adelaide? Online, from CBD Oil Adelaide. We post to Adelaide CBD, Glenelg, Norwood, Prospect and Australia-wide. Compare all four strengths on the shop page.

How do I read the strength on the label? Divide the total mg by 50 (the bottle volume in mL) to get the per-mL concentration. A 1000mg bottle is 20mg/mL; a 6000mg bottle is 120mg/mL. The dropper draws a 0.5mL serving, so every bottle holds roughly 100 servings.

Our CBN oil is a plain-description product: one cannabinoid, one carrier, four strengths, all priced in Australian dollars and lab-tested by batch. Browse the complete range to compare CBN, CBG, and both CBD oil formats side by side.
